Harley-Davidson is working on a new affordable motorcycle called the Sprint, which will share its platform with other models. Here’s what we know.

Harley-Davidson seems to be working on an entry-level motorcycle in its premium twin-cylinder range. The details came to light on an investor’s call from a few days ago, and this will be Harley’s second attempt at amking a mass-market motorcycle after the Street 750, which failed to meet expectations.

Harley-Davidson’s new motorcycle: The Sprint

As per limited details available, the new Harley-Davidson will be based on a new architecture, and this will be the base for many more to come, with the Harley-Davidson Sprint being the first one. The idea behind the new Sprint is to attract younger motorcyclists to the brand, which is currently the choice of riders above 40.

Royal Enfield has tried something similar with the Hunter 350, and the company has seen success, attracting younger and new riders to the brand. The Harley-Davidson Sprint is expected to carry a price tag of around $6000, and is expected to make its debut at the 2025 EICMA show.

Harley-Davidson’s first attempt: The Street 750

The Harley-Davidson Street 750 was launched with a lot of ambitions a few years ago, and it was designed for emerging markets such as India, and it was even built in India. While the initial response was good, complaints started pouring in, and it failed to meet expectations for Harley-Davidson.

The Harley-Davidson Street 750’s biggest complaint was its front brake, and several riders protested over it, but Harley failed to address the issue. Soon, sales dwindled, and in an attempt to revive the model, Harley-Davidson launched the Street Rod, which also failed in India.

The Harley-Davidson Street 750 was powered by a 749cc, liquid-cooled V-twin that made 57bhp and 59Nm of torque with the help of a 6-speed gearbox. The motorcycle had a top speed of 180kmph while it tipped the scales at 229kg.

Harley-Davidson owners were also against the new liquid-cooled engine that the company developed for the Street 750, as they preferred an old-school air-cooled engine over the modern liquid-cooled engine. The Street 750 faced a lot of backlash that eventually led to its failure, and hopefully, the upcoming Sprint will learn from the downfalls to be a successful motorcycle for Harley-Davidson.
