American electric automaker Tesla was found partially at fault for a 2019 car accident involving a Model S that had Autopilot engaged at the time of the collision. A jury in Florida laid 33 percent liability at Tesla’s feet for the crash that killed one pedestrian and severely injured another, and as a result, the company will have to pay a portion of the $329 million judgment in restitution and punitive fees – a landmark case that may have significant impact on existing and future lawsuits against Tesla and its Autopilot driver-assistance technology.
