Exclusive: Vinfast VF7 spotted testing ahead of launch next month – Car News

VinFast VF7

Upon launch, the Vinfast VF7 is expected to be priced at around Rs 23-25 lakh (ex-showroom), which means it will lock horns with Tata Harrier EV, and Mahindra XEV 9e.

Vinfast is gearing up for its grand entrance into the Indian car market with the launch of two electric SUVs — VF7 and VF6. After making their debut at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo earlier this year, the Vietnamese electric carmaker started accepting pre-booking for both EV models last month at a refundable token amount of Rs 21,000.

Production for both electric SUVs in India commenced earlier this month at the assembly plant in SIPCOT Industrial Park in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu. Ahead of the official launch, which is most likely taking place next month, a test mule of Vinfast VF7 was spotted testing on the roads of Noida.

Vinfast VF7: Expected Design

Although wearing a complete camouflage from top to bottom, the prototype seen in the latest spy images look production-ready. Most probably, the VF7 unit here is undergoing final rounds of testing. The images reveal the rear end of the SUV with its connected LED strip across the tailgate and roof-mounted spoiler. The trapezoidal-shape cut on the bottom part of the tailgate is another distinct highlight. Other visual highlights include a low-slung stance and 19-inch aerodynamic alloy wheels.

Vinfast VF7: Variants & Colour options

Vinfast will offer the VF7 in three variants namely Earth, Wind, and Sky. According to the company website, the electric SUV will be available in a total of six colour options: Jet Black, Desat Silver, Crimson Red, Zenith Grey, and Urban Mint. These shades will be offered as standard across all variants. However, the interior theme of the electric SUV will differ based on the chosen variant. For example, the Earth variant will feature an all-black cabin, whereas the Wind and Sky variants will sport a dual-tone mocha brown and black interior.

Vinfast VF7: Expected Powertrain specs

Vinfast hasn’t yet revealed the exact specifications for the India-spec VF7 but globally it is offered with two powertrain options. The first is a single motor on the front axle, producing 201 bhp and 310 Nm of peak torque. The second option is a dual-motor, all-wheel drive setup that delivers a combined output of 349 bhp and 500 Nm.

As for performance, the single-motor version accelerates from 0-100 kmph in 9.5 seconds, while the dual-motor variant achieves it in 5.8 seconds.
