The Honda Prelude went into production in 1978 and sat for five generations in Honda’s lineup as a sporty compact coupe that evolved into something like an affordable GT car. It went out of production in 2001 with no direct replacement, but it’s fair to say that the Accord Coupe was competing with the Prelude by then. Now that Honda has retired the Accord Coupe, the Prelude is coming back again as a sporty two-door model, but this time as a hybrid. This is as good of a reason as any for Honda to wheel out its collection of vintage Preludes from the Honda Museum and send us out for some wheel time and soak up the vintage vibes around Redondo Beach in Southern California.
